Where Sound, Film, and Black Creativity Become Legacy

Black history isn’t confined to textbooks or timelines. It lives in the music we replay, the films we quote, and the creative communities we continue to build.

This Black History Month, FAYNC MAGAZINE transforms Croo Studios into a cultural playground—where sound meets story, nostalgia meets dialogue, and Black creativity takes center stage.

From an intimate J. Dilla listening session to a cinematic Friday film night and a city-wide Black Creatives Mixer, FAYNC is curating experiences that don’t just celebrate Black history, they expand it.

SndSoul Sessions: J. Dilla

Listening Beyond the Sound

Saturday, February 7

🕕 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

📍 Croo Studios | 102 Person St., Studio B

SndSoul Sessions is not your average listening session. It’s an intimate experience designed for true music lovers, those who don’t just hear music, but feel it, study it, and live by it.

This special edition of SndSoul is dedicated to the legacy of J. Dilla, a producer whose fingerprints changed the DNA of hip-hop and soul forever. Inside Croo Studios, a J. Dilla vinyl will be spun front to back in an intimate studio setting hosted by Zairis TéJion.

Each track will be slowed down and unpacked, Who produced it. Where it came from. The samples behind it. The era it represents. And why it still matters today.

From the drums to the soul samples, the session dives deep into Dilla’s genius and the cultural impact he left on music across generations. This isn’t just a listening session, it’s a musical conversation, a moment to sit with sound, story, and spirit.

To honor Dilla’s love for donuts and coffee, guests will enjoy fresh donuts and coffee, setting the tone for a warm, soulful atmosphere. And what makes this session even more special? It’s happening on J. Dilla’s birthday, a symbolic moment to celebrate his life through the music he left behind.

Limited space. Come listen. Come learn. Come experience the soul of sound.

SndSoul Sessions exists to slow music down in a fast world. Each session centers around one artist and one vinyl project that shaped culture and emotion. It’s about understanding the soul behind the music, from production credits and creative process to cultural impact and hidden details you might’ve missed.

Whether you’re a crate digger, casual listener, or creative yourself, SndSoul Sessions is where music is heard with intention, in community, and with meaning.
